Bet you didn't expect to see me back so soon, huh? Well, I certainly hope you're having a wonderful evening. I guess it's night time, but I think the word "evening" sounds better. I just woke up, so I could definitely call it morning time myself.
I wanted to fill you guys in on the juicy details of my party experience last Friday. For the most part, it went pretty well! I got all dolled up in my fancy $300 winter coat, and road down to the bar with my friend Jay and her friend Ellie (who's pretty cute and a pleasure to be around, might I add).
When we arrived at Crave, the friend who we came there for greeted us at the door. She seemed pretty sober at the time, even though she was working on a drink when we got there. She's usually bubbly and sweet, and I wasn't sure what she'd be like when she drank. She was particularly beautiful in the red dress she wore that night.
I met some of her friends that night. I'm not the best at names, but they were really nice, despite how quiet they were.
I gave her the present I got for her. It's honestly one of my first times getting someone a present on my own volition; I don't go to many birthday parties, and before that, I was young, and my mother would help me with that kinda thing financially. She's really into folktales, legends and stuff like that. Originally, I wanted to get some Scottish-type jewelry, but I don't really know her tastes. After a long search, I finally decided on the gift I think I was looking for the whole time: a book called Celtic Tales. It wasn't too expensive, and looked like the kinda thing she'd like. I picked up a card from Walgreens to tie it all together. Fortunately, she liked it a lot, and it scored me a hug.
I'm gonna be honest, even though I had Jay with me, I was still pretty shy around everyone. It was probably because Jay herself is a lesbian, and came to Crave often. Because of this, she knew a lot of the people there. I, on the other hand, knew very few people. I saw a dude who looked suspiciously like my Astronomy teacher, which is amazing. I also saw Jon, Shanne's boyfriend there. I tried to say hello to Jon a couple of times, but he ignored me. You could chalk it up to him just not noticing me, but I saw him look at me after saying 'hi,' and saw him turn away. Ehh, I don't know what the beef is. I went to the LGBT stuff at the beginning of the year. He's probably just angry at me because I associate with Lestat, his mortal enemy. Whatever.
And as the night progressed, the girl began to drink more and more. It became quickly noticeable, of course. I'm not quite sure if she was just reveling in the fact that she could drink freely now, or if she was drowning her sorrows because of that thing she was worried about. Either way, I told her that she should just worry about having a good time tonight. Life is too short to not be enjoying it, right? She assured me that she was fine, and made her way to the bar for another drink. I knew that she was feeling worse than she was exuding, but sometimes we need to drink to remove our minds from such self-imposed sadness.
If I haven't hinted at it enough already, Crave is a spot where a lot of the LGBT community in Greenville hang out. I'm not sure if it's a gay bar by brand, but they definitely make up the scene. As such, Crave is pretty renowned for its drag shows. Luckily for us, a drag show was happening that night. When it started, the performers performed Christmas-themed songs and displayed some pretty impressive moves. I had a blast watching them! The birthday girl stood beside me as we watched. She danced to the songs, and sometimes sang along. I'm not gonna lie, I had to catch her a couple times from falling down, but she seemed to be having a good time. I'm not the biggest extrovert of all time, but I couldn't help but sorta kinda dance with her. She grabbed onto my arm, as we watched the rest of the show.
I didn't see her too much after the show, though. That's because her mind was on the girl she liked, and the fact that my ride had to leave to drop Ellie off. I was worried about the birthday girl, because I didn't know if she'd be doing any more drinking or if she'd say something to the girl that she wouldn't have meant to. Despite that, she seemed to be in good hands, and I felt alright about leaving. I would have liked to stay longer to be honest, but I'm just glad I got to spend some time with her. With a hug and a kiss on the cheek, she bid me farewell.
While we waited outside, I had a talk with Ellie. She didn't really seem to enthused with the whole party scene itself, and I didn't want to make her feel left out. She's actually a really sweet girl! She's one of those kinda chicks who has her life in order. She has a good head on her shoulders, and I hope to talk to her again sometime! I also mentioned that I needed a job, and she told me to apply for a certain position on campus that needed all the help it could get. I'm definitely looking forward to applying for that job starting next semester. :)
Overall, I had a great time that night, and I hope that the birthday girl had a great time! She texted me the next morning telling me that what she had predicted had become reality. The girl she liked rejected her, and she told the other girl that liked her that she wasn't interested. This worried me, but I know she's going to be alright. That girl made her feel special, and so birthday girl continues to cling to the desire to have her. In all honesty, I hope that she can overcome her pain. Love is one of the most powerful emotions that exists, but crying over someone who doesn't reciprocate is absolutely worthless. I don't want to downplay the pain she feels, but I don't want the thoughts and feelings of one careless person to prevent her from being happy.
That's the story! :p Thanks for reading! There aren't many more updates that I can think of. I've pretty much been holed up in my room practicing my Mortal Kombat X combos ever since that night, so I really don't have much more to talk about!
Later, nerds.
