Why am I doing this?

Hello everyone! Today, I might be making a series of posts just to set the blog up. But I will definitely create a post devoted to the main things I’ve learned today. But for now, I think now will be the proper time to let everyone know why I’m creating this blog, and why I’m learning Japanese.

Sure, I said I wanted to play my Japanese version of Pokémon, but it can’t be that shallow, can it? Well, yes and no. I started out at one of those people who intended to learn “just for fun”, not knowing what a long and hard road I was destined to face. I was actually inspired by a YouTube video. This video featured an American man opening and reviewing a PlayStation Vita. The Vita had not yet become available in the states, and this man just so happened to be living in Japan (whether he was someone seeking to immerse himself in the culture or an exchange student, I don’t know.). I was impressed to see him actively translating the box and instruction book into English with relative ease. This kinda sparked the flame. Another YouTube video of a guy translating “Ace Attorney vs. Professor Layton” in real-time peaked my interest.

I wanted to be able to learn a new language, too. Being a fan of Japanese culture, it was obvious which language I wanted to pursue. Little did I know I was in for a wild ride. But this learning experience has become so much more than learning a language. This is proving to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to. I have so many vices, so many things holding me back. I want to finish something I start in my life, even if it’s only this one thing.

With that said, this blog serves as sort of an encyclopedia of my Japanese studies if I ever need to refresh myself on some content. I felt a blog was the best way to express this, because it gets me involved with my studies on a personal level on a daily basis. It gives me a reason to strive for greatness. This is also like a journal. While I am going to make an attempt to leave out too many personal details and make this strictly my Japanese, I will throw those details in from time to time. This blog is for me in all, but I would absolutely adore it if there were others who could share this journey with me. Maybe I could captivate and inspire others to learn another language as well!

I’ll post more tonight!! :D Later!
