Salutations!

Hello, anyone reading this! Hopefully future me will be looking at this post, and be able to translate this to Japanese. I hope to look upon this post with accomplishment, having conquered my ultimate goal. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The name's Jacob Clemmons. It's March 3, 2013. Today is the day I solidify my desire to achieve a goal I have longed to accomplish. This goal is one that I'd imagine thousands of Americans attempt, while a very slim percentage of them actually succeed. My goal is to become fluent in the language of Japanese. I want to be able to speak the language, and read hiragana, katakana, and the dreaded kanji! I want to understand that Japanese copy of Pokemon Heart Gold I have lying around. I know I can do it. I want to look back on my life and know that I have actually finished something I have started. It seems I have picked a rather difficult goal. Scratch that... a very... VERY difficult goal. But I believe I can do it!

Right now, I am definitely a beginner. I am somewhat familiar with hiragana symbols, although I'd say in NO way proficient with this though. I get the gist basic statement sentence structure, but there's definitely room for improvement. I know a couple colors, how to say hello, how to say cat, and how to say water.

On this blog, I will be (or will make an attempt to be) posting daily. I will include:

  • What I learned.
  • How I felt about what I learned (was it frustrating? Easy? etc) so I can figure out what causes me trouble and focus on fixing that.
  • What I need to work on.
  • What I want to learn next.
  • etc.

I hope that this little project is something I find myself devoted to, because if I don't finish this, then I'm sure to acknowledge myself as a failure for my whole life! :P No pressure! Wish me luck! Rawr!

This is me, by the way! ^^
